Traditions remain: R.Krollis has been named Sportland best young player
In the voting process, journalists and Optibet Virsliga coaches decided that Raimonds Krollis from Valmiera FC has been named the best young player of the tournament’s third round. This is his third consecutive victory this year.
One of the brightest attacking players in the Latvian championship triumphed in this same category four times last year and is continuing his streak this season. No other player has been able to receive the award for almost two years now.
The best player of each Virsliga round has been awarded since 2015. The candidates are put forward by the Latvian Football Federation’s (LFF) board of coaches and the voting process is conducted by the media and head coaches of Virsliga clubs. The main criterion for this award is that you have to be a player in the U-21 age group.
This team LFF’s board of coaches put forward five candidates:
Raimonds Krollis (Valmiera FC)
Bruno Melnis (FK Metta)
Emīls Birka (Valmiera FC)
Kristers Penkevics (Valmiera FC)
Kristans Kauselis (FK Tukums 2000/Telms)
In the vote of journalists and coaches, Raimonds Krollis was named the best young player.
The best player of each round receives a gift from the leading sports retailer ‘’Sportland’’ which primarily supports the development of young athletes.
